Mirage
I know you see me shimmering,
tantalizingly just in front of you
You got an uncontrollable thirst,
a rabid thirst for some real truth
Mainstream news drought has you crawling;
unable to swallow, unable to chew
This news wasteland is a slow, slow killer,
the tabloid vultures are circling in view
But I'm that cyber oasis,
that comforting terabyte stop just up ahead
Rest yourself in my modem,
drink deep from my knowledge well
Never mind that what I'm giving you
is merely a beautiful virtual mirage
You won't realize until it's too late,
this haven of hope was only a facade
Your mind thinks it's truth surfing,
on a cool and intoxicating wifi breeze
But all the while your body's dying,
thirsting for some real news, not gossip sleaze
Do you think you got enough to make it
to that info highway a few clicks ahead
Will you chance taking that last podcast gulp,
and risk being found in the news desert dead
Yes, I'm that cyber oasis,
that comforting terabyte stop just up ahead
Rest yourself in my modem,
drink deep from my knowledge well
Never mind that what I'm giving you
is merely a beautiful virtual mirage
You won't realize until it's too late,
this would be your final resting lodge
