Miner's Dream
Miner's Dream
Somewhere in this truck-bed sand there is meaning
There are answers
Humor
Hope
A hand
Up
Somewhere in this earth's marrow I will find a meadow
Surrounded by old trees
And new trees
My heart's pan will fill to the brim
With joy like that which comes from the twinkling anticipation
Of watching her try to wink
Somewhere in this rocky stream amidst endless, worn smooth, pebbles of loss
I'll surely find steady breathing once again
Now as elusive as gold dust
Somewhere in this tender and tended soil
Tucked in beside nematodes and worm castings
I will leave my tools behind
For the next precious fool
