Minefield

Minefield I wish I could navigate the minefield of my mind Its corners dark and undefined. One step too far, it all explodes It explodes, my being erodes. I walk through slowly with a hopeful face Behind me, anxiety soon gives chase. Anxiety stabs me, sanity's scorcher And as I weep, I'm thrust to self torture. Cut in the heart by worries future to past I'm paralyzed to think this day is my last. I break the mirror, shouting at my appearance Meandering in camouflage is my only clearance. I'm comforted by brief moments of peace But it's back to the minefield as those cease. I sit and smile as I amputate In this personal hell I create. And I shudder to think of an eternity bound To this forsaken battleground.

A battle many fight; a war some lose. Deep with a great flow J. May your battles ease. May you continue to win your war J.

A really beautiful written poem this is, truly a masterpiece, everything about it was perfect, what I believe is that it can be controlled if you have the fear of God, that He s watching us everywhere and by keeping the fact that we have to give an account of whatever we do, still anxiety can destroy a person. A very warm welcome to poetrysoup, I m sure that you ll enjoy your stay here, good luck and continue to write

I have heard that before. Very relatable to the poem itself and it is true. Especially when you deal with anxiety that can get out of control. Thank you for reading and I appreciate your welcoming! It's good to be here.

Hello, Jesse. Your first poem is a rhymer, akin to my heart and your rhyming skill is appreciated. Life can be filled with land mines and walking through it each day can be a precarious journey. People make it a battleground in a war we shouldn't have to fight. I look forward to reading more from you. ;-)

Jesse, anxiety is a very uncomfortable place to be in your mind or body.. Trying to swim to the surface and get some air is sometimes hard. I want to thank you for reading my Haiku and the wonderful inspiring compliment... I also want to welcome you to soup if this is your first saddle ride in this home.. Hugs Eve
