... a brief mention of a favorite movie, perhaps you will know it ...

I mean to formulate and phrase My thoughts in fine, poetic ways So if my aims aren't clearly shown The fault is mine, and mine alone. Consider me as you wish or will Of hate and rage, I've had my fill Take all that I possess and own Still, what's inside is mine alone. Keep your wealth and power, too Coerce by means to make me do Things I'd rather not have known But this conviction's mine alone. Perhaps you can command a coin With a pistol bolt, my life purloin While you slay my blood and bone This soul is mine, and mine alone. And if by prospect of the fates I do not reach the Pearly Gates For all that I could not atone ... Those sins were mine, and mine ... Alone. ** FIRST PLACE in the "Early September Standard Poetry Contest", Brian Strand, Sponsor. **

Greg, congratulations on your top winning entry. Your poem is written with much depth. The alliteration alerts the reader that we are responsible for our actions. ~ Sonia ~

Amen, Sonia - many things are done TO us against our will, but even those things depend on how we respond to them. Being a victim is very real, but we can be warriors in how we respond, or let it destroy us. I believe anything is possible - and anything can be overcome! Thank you for the kind words! :-) <3

Thanks so much, Mike, this is my new mantra - it kind of sums it all up quite well for me, my priorities and views, I mean, (and a small movie reference in there as well, ha!). Blessings, my friend! :-)

Oh, I never expect that, Buddy, as it's all about what the judge likes, not always about what's deserve, (as you know) ... if it happens it's a joy and a blessing! As YOU are, my friend! :-)

Aha - if that were true, wouldn't that be nice - to write poetry and make a living at it? A dream of mine for sure, (and all of us, I imagine), but I'm not holding my breath, lol. Blessings to you, my friend - you are a ray of sunshine in my day, and I hope you know how muh I appreciate it! <3c

This is a nice poem Greg, I can see why Russell likes your poetry. You have been a great friend to him, I really appreciate all your kind words that you have written for him, and your trust you have for him. Thank you! Russell wants me to type for him, "The flow of this write is superb my friend. Wow, such a wonderful poem. You have delighted me by the skillfulness of this piece. I have certainly enjoyed hearing this poem read to me this morning. I have an X-ray today, hope for the best." Emma

Thank you both so very much ... you at once honor me and humble me, as I don't deserve the wonderful praise and comments you send my way, but I oh, so appreciate it, and you have become sunshine in my days. I pray someday I can return the favor, and bring you a bit of joy. Blessings, Dear Friends, and healing energy your way! :-) <3
