Mine Alone

... a brief mention of a favorite movie, perhaps you will know it ...
I mean to formulate and phrase
My thoughts in fine, poetic ways
So if my aims aren't clearly shown
The fault is mine, and mine alone.
Consider me as you wish or will
Of hate and rage, I've had my fill
Take all that I possess and own
Still, what's inside is mine alone.
Keep your wealth and power, too
Coerce by means to make me do
Things I'd rather not have known
But this conviction's mine alone.
Perhaps you can command a coin
With a pistol bolt, my life purloin
While you slay my blood and bone
This soul is mine, and mine alone.
And if by prospect of the fates
I do not reach the Pearly Gates
For all that I could not atone ...
Those sins were mine, and mine ...
Alone.
