Mine

Africa is mine,
I am Africa’s;
I was bought
By it before
I had a name,
It set aside a place
For me in the corners
That it’s light
Will reach,
It called by deaf
Ears that had not
Yet heard
What is sounds
To cry for
The very first time.

Africa is mine,
I am Africa’s.
