Past life ghosts they drift and creep
spread their bile on those who sleep
cold as ice with no soft side 
For mud bound stains dug so deep

Thanks for your kind comment about my placement. In response to your excellent question I wish to offer some clarity. The “spirits” are a metaphor for matters that have been ignored and must be attended to for everyone’s benefit. They are a reminder that ultimate peace of mind lies in resolution rather than deferral. Hence the reason why these “spirits” persist to the detriment of the central character as they sleep.
