Midnight Song

You're a song that my heart keeps singing
Mostly after midnight when only the loneliest of birds still call
I'm answered in the whisper of night air
and a choir of crickets
While I sit murmuring softly to myself on the front steps

I think there is a midnight song in us all as it is the point where yesterday no longer exists and today is waiting in the wings, where sadness and joy jostle each other for ownership of a new day. A pleasant and well penned poem. Regards David in NZ
