Midnight Owl
Glowing circular sunshine eyes
Bright and luminous in blackened skies
Feathers blended on bark and leaves
Rustling softly in summer breeze
Prey unaware of predator on the prowl
Watching with 360 degree scowl
Eyes scanning, wings spanning, she flies
Swooping low she seeks her prize
There's no escape now, no reprieve
At the natural order of things she grieves
As her dinner may be a murder most foul
Such is the plight of a midnight owl
