Midnight Blue

The satin blanket of night
With it's silky silence 
Wrapping whispers around
My head

Tucking in my dreams
Clicking out the light
Of reality
To reveal the depth of desire 

The soon to be forgotten future
Cosy with the pervasive past 
In the twisted landscape
Of perception

Where unicorns dance
Where unseen monsters lurk
A place where lost love blossoms
And fears manifest

Under the rainbow of dreamland
Real people escape 
Until the monochrome blue
Bleeds back into the bedroom

The beautiful blanket
Of comfort becomes
The shadowy shroud of silence 
For the midnight meandering heart

Soul stirring lines throughout with such beautiful imagery flowing so flawlessly, i love poe, and i love this quote you’ve used by poe. And also this line stood out for me “In the twisted landscape Of perception” resonates deeply and i mentioned something similar in my poem just now, coincidence but this poem somehow resonates with me right now: The beautiful blanketOf comfort becomes The shadowy shroud of silence” hits home! A definite fave Sam Scott December 19, 2023 at 12:18 PM Thank you Ink - I thought I would try a different style and sometimes rhymes are too gimmicky and jovial to convey the deeper feelings (although I do love a rhyme tbf - can you tell? lol). It means a lot that you like this, it has special meaning. Have a great coconutty Christmas :))

Wowww..I love the glorious descriptions of midnight blue and the vivid tapestries of emotions that you've so beautifully carved..A place where unicorns exist whilst fears manifest..Where true love and magick blossom but also monsters lurk in shadows..
