Midnight
Midnight
The sound of rain hitting the roof on a very dark night
The mystical feeling you get when alone gazing at the stars so bright
The smell of the mist rising glowing trapped by the street lamp light
The howl of the dog in the far distance as a cat meows in fright
The silence of the street as everyone is asleep as now its midnight
The owls and bats fly around near the barn close to a burial site
The tombstones are but markers on green velvet grass to show last rite
The black branches spike the sky like hands reaching to feel the winds bite
The road is long and leads nowhere but the forest where strange creatures fight
The sheep start bleating and the noise brings unrest as wolves teeth shine razor white
The farmer turns on the porch light but sees nothing as it was just the barn door shutting tight.
