A MIDDAY NIGHTMARE Gates opened at our home, drove in, before we could touch the remote, Guns at our heads, masked men shouting, hammer’s back, itchy fingers, We will kill you, give us jewelry, money, all you’ve got, or these triggers Will go off, nightmare in our garden, they left, we lived, so this I wrote! Sponsor : Dear Heart's Contest :"Deep and Dark" Date 2019/03/25 This is a true story, experienced by my husband and I.

Hi Jack, as I said to MLK, it was so unbelievable, we drove into our driveway and the next thing i heard my husband say is we are been hijacked, do as they say, and then a gun was at each one of our heads! Poetry hugs, Jennifer.

Hi MLK and every word of it is true! God kept me calm, I thought I was in a movie and it was happening to someone else - still think of it and cringe! Poetry hugs, Jennifer.

Hi Dear Heart Hope you are well - thank you for your congratulations. I must say that typing it out I cried more than on the day it in fact happened - seeing it typed and completed in front of me somehow bought out stronger emotions. Poetry hugs, Jennifer.

Hi Panagiota, It sounds far worse than it is, we have all learnt to live in this way. However we still got zapped in the poem I wrote for Dear Hearts contest, we just have to constantly be alert, otherwise it is a beautiful country. Poetry hugs, Jenny.

You are right Rico, survival is optional, but unfortunately my parents (and i was in the family business) never wanted to sell and leave SA - and then my husband says it is too late to move, but i still have the sense of adventure in me and am willing for us to take the chance of leaving - I am looking at the program tiny homes and would love us to have a comfortable RV and stay in one continent and travel in it from N to S and E to W, instead of just living a day to day uncertain life as to what will happen. Hi Janice, the worst exp. in my life, and as I have told everyone else it was only after I wrote about it, that the incident happened in my mind all over again and I broke down and cried. Thank-you Janice. Poetry hugs, Jenny.

Hi Lindsay, this happened three years ago Lindsay, and I never really cried about it until today now, when i am writing my replies to my friends. Maybe this contest was meant for me as i had to write the incident down and discuss it with others. Poetry hugs, Jenny

Wow Jennifer, how traumatic. Apparently what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. You much be one tough cookie. Thankfully you lived to tell the tale. Wow!

Hi Line, People tell me I am strong as did my psychologist that we went to for counseling, But it was God that gave me that strength, if I were to tell you the all that happened in my life, I could write a book. Poetry hugs, Jenny.

- Woow ... a truly terrifying experience, Jenny - If this had happened in my street ... I had moved to a safer place ... I have never seen a "real" weapon ... (only at airports abroad) - It actually happens we forget to lock the front door at night ... and we sleep with the windows open on the 2nd floor - Good luck in the contest :) - hugs // Anne-Lise :)

Anne-Lise, I don't wish this on my worst enemy (although I haven't got one) - I was terrified but thanks to our Dear God, he kept me so calm i couldn't grasp the reality of it all. This happened at twenty to four in broad daylight with heavy traffic outside our home. I'm glad you and others are safe where you are. Be well and safe dear soul sister. Poetry hugs, Jenny

My god, the world we live in Jennifer, I remember you telling me that story, it doesn't get any darker than that. Not something you can forget easily. Good luck Tom.

It was horrible Tom, my husband just had enough time to say to me, just listen to them, and then their guns appeared. It was the most scary time of my life, but God helped us and kept us calm and they didn't kill us. Poetry hugs, Jenny
