Michigan Used To Be My Home

I used to call Michigan my sweet home, growing up used to camp by Lake Erie, now this state has left me sad and alone, honestly there’s nothing left there for me. Jet’s Pizza was my most favorite food, Jimmy’s Coney Island every Tuesday, now all the loss and death has changed my mood, and to leave this state is all I can pray. Renaissance Festival in the summer, used to be a place of laughter and fun, but now Michigan is a big bummer, and pleasurable moments I have none. Michigan used to feel like home to me, but maybe I should move to Tennessee. December 29, 2016

It is ashame how tragedy can change the mood of how you write and paint ; yes paint... I don't mean the subject matter but the colors used.. because of your up and down moods color is seen with a different eye... at one time i saw shades of blues and payne's gray beautiful... a mourning period, then I remarried and colors were in the bright greens, peaches, reds , and creams.. ..congratulations, Laura, on your win. and lots of Hugs & love Eve

It is sad when you watch something you loved so much be neglected and destroyed by violence and government and everything else. Fortunately I don't have to deal with that here in Texas, this state seems to only get more beautiful each day that goes by. But...Tennessee is a beautiful state as well. Another but.........I have a feeling that Michigan may soon be on the rise again. Loved you poem Laura, maybe sad but so wonderfully written.
