Metamorphosis

The air feeds fire that burns from wood; The earth yields wood that water grows; The fire now sires steam from cold moods; The water fields strength as fire shows! Such is the ring that goes and comes; Four elements or five with wood; Nature now sings in timely sum; Sure elements that fling all good. Start at the edge and cover grounds; See movement still in churn of waves; Over the ledge as lost is found; Time hurls goodwill in fool and knave. The genius knows the way to go; Feel thoughts that surge in hiatus here; Ideas now glow with ebb and flow; An intense urge to craft new spheres. Round and round dear, world in mad swirl; No time to stop lest we all fall down; Fling faith and fear to greet each whirl; Each soon must drop like fallen clowns. The rush of will but there it seems, A gentle pulse as stillness holds The primal feel in a sure dream; Falling impulse as things unfold. Time after time in sequence hurls; Yet time scatters in many waves; Reason fails rhyme and time now swirls Beyond mere matter to crash not save. The moments meet beyond forfeit In change and chance yet true to soul; Bold surge to greet the incomplete, Strange range that dance to know the whole. The moment's loss within the gloom Of broken lines where rhyme fails rhyme; Where dust flings floss in empty room And moisture brines time beyond time. Go beyond things as matter minds The deep deep dark where no light goes; And yet this fling and plunge in kind Is just that spark to know fond flow. Space and time here a mere construct Of a motif once eternal; In surreal peer, in sure destruct For time's a thief that kills mortal. Leon Enriquez 07 Apr 2014 Singapore
