Boten des Frühlings
Margeriten, Löwenzahn
Dicht bei der Straße 

Und Hummeln im Freudenflug
Über dem Blütenteppich



Messengers of spring
Marguerites, dandelions
Close to the road

Bumblebees in joyous flight
Over the flower carpet



Mensajeros primaveral
Margaritas, dientes de león
Cerca de la calle

Abejorros en vuelo alegre
Sobre la alfombra de flores

Carolyn Devonshire April 13, 2011 at 2:53 PM Such a lovely poem, Gert. Are you seeing these signs of spring finally? We have the bumble bees just about year-round here. I guess Marguerites are wildflowers or perhaps butterflies? Hope you are feeling better, my friend. I was living in blissful ignorance until I saw all the doctors. We have a food dish here called "pasta prima vera." I guess it means "spring pasta." There are lots of vegetables and it's quite tasty. Enjoyed your poem! Love, carolyn

Jack Horne April 12, 2011 at 8:47 AM Beautiful imagery, Gert. Wow, I must admit I hadn't heard of Lotte - but how wonderful for you to be related to such a star! I must see if I can get any of her recordings on Amazon. I took my mother to see the Sound of Music at the theatre not long ago - and I see Lotte discovered the family's vocal talents too. Amazing lady! Sue's had a bad cough but I think she's on the mend. Hope you're feeling better, my friend.
