Message of the Moth

Enticed to the light on the top porch, you hover... Moon child of the night, do you look for a lover? Oh little moth, it's you and I alone, each bound for a troth of our acquaintance unknown. Must I be a wife to one not of my choosing, a servant for life only fit for amusing? Oh, moth of the moon is it a message you bear, a sign opportune to the plea in my prayer? I see open sky through the room’s gaping window... If I could just fly, I would lift wings and go! November 5, 2014

The message is clear in your wonderful entry Roy. Written with a woman's perspective. It is one of having the freedom of choice and not being abliged to be united to one that feels a sense of possession, stuck in an abusive loveless union. This is sure to be on the winner's list!

Thanks Connie! I saw your great entry and I guess they are both about freedom, in different ways. An open window is a metaphor for freedom. In mine, there's an old superstition that seeing a moth means that a letter or message is coming, the bigger the moth, the more important. The Luna moth is huge!
