Merry Sad Christmas

Through
blood stained aeons
religions
tiding astronomical
assuring
the birth of the sun

Shines
the near dead
seasonally depressed
atheist

Glowing

It sure is nice
to celebrate
with everyone

Fist full of pills ;), I have painted some fabulous skies, but the daylight lamp... well that's gone to the doves, D's got me covered now. As for painting, an unfinished commissioned canvas is constantly murmuring in my ear... maybe this year. Happy New Year! xomo <3

Merry Christmas, Mo! I am determined to not let them take Christ out of Christmas! Next thing we know they will be calling it Santa Clause Day. Love and hugs, Catie :)

Maureen. Another fellow relater-me! Mine occurred when I lived in Chicago. The winters to me are depressing but Spring was great. I left there decades ago. When I went back for visits at winter, oh, it's sad. Vitamin D might help you. Ask your MD to check your blood levels for D. Thus..I moved to California. Sunny almost all year. No bare trees, no gray skies. Perfectly joyful now xxx PR

In the coldest capital in the world, it has plagued me for years. I'm finally on D, massive improvement. Though California sounds like a much sweeter pill to swallow. Merry Christmas Panagiota! xomo

The lack of sunlight and gloomy skies, in particular here in the UK do not help.. Yes vitamin D is key... Glad you are feeling better..

I couldn't handle the gloominess. Ottawa gets too much sun for greenhouses ;), Tho even if you got the sun, the angle of the sun affects too. Have had success with daylight lamp, but 10000iu D3/day pretty much quashed it. Thank you SO ~x

Interesting! I've finally kicked it. I believe there's a connection to PCS and hormones. It can be a horrible debilitating depression. Vitamin D is key. Merry Christmas my friend, warm hugs! xomo

oh yes, the SAD disorder. I am glad I do not have it, but I truly hate winter compared to summer. Quite interesting take on the theme, Maureen.

I've only just got my SAD under control. Since I don't have to bike in it anymore I've hated winter less, now can't handle heat or noise of summer I'm appreciating it more ;), Warm wishes and hugs Andrea! xomo

Hey, Mo, they stole the holiday from the pagans celebrating the return of the sun. Hang in there it should be starting its return as of tomorrow......slowly...ever so friggin' slowly...(I liked Rico's little tongue in cheekiness also)

Though I'm not a christian I've never had a bad Christmas memory. Even this year I'm being forced into work. A memorable way to remember my last Christmas at the USPS. Sorry for the slight ramble Maureen: This poem is a great one!!!

I remember couriering the month before Christmas during a postal strike, CRAZY. Enjoy your last hoorah as a posty, make it a hoorah ;), I have fond Christmas memories, but I have grown more fond of Solstice. Return of sun means ebb of SAD means extra celebration. Hugs! xomo

I try to find happiness in every day of the year. I know it is there, it's just on some days it hides better than others. But I still try to find it :) I do know many get depressed during the holidays and have always wondered, if they eliminated all holidays would people still be depressed at those same times of the year? If so, maybe it's not the holidays at all. : ) Loved your poem my friend, like I always do. Best wishes in the contest.

Me too. The SAD is physical, lack of sun exposure, having to be happy and social at the peak of depression a huge stressor. Is it the holidays... or our families?;))))) Hugs! and thank you xomo
