Merry Christmas is a greeting of cheer,
wishing each other a joyous Noël.
A salutation that is heard each year;
it's tradition, wherever Christians dwell;
a blessing that's music to a child's ear.
Christmas bells have a magical effect;
even strangers are jolly and polite.
Come Christmas Eve, Santa's list is twice checked,
while children dream of Rudolph's nose so bright;
for bending reality feels correct.
When you greet folks with happiness and joy,
it's reciprocated in like manner.
Christmas excites every young girl and boy,
whether they're in a shack or a manor;
promising good behavior for a toy.
Merry Christmas and or Happy New Year
are expressions of love and brotherhood.
Wherever such greetings ring loud and clear,
their meaning's recognized and understood;
words of celebration, goodwill, and cheer.
