Menage a Trois

A possum fell in love with a 'coon And they spooned by the light of the moon In pet igloo they snoozed cause the cat took a cruise, they hoped he wouldn’t come home too soon! Well, Ole Blackie the cat was real fat So, his pet food he shared “How ‘bout that!” all ate from his bowl Or so I am told By the jay in the trees bold chit chat. Ah true love did we see in the three the Jay thought why not let them all be he stopped all the gossips the biddy’s and trollops and encouraged this equality!

This makes me smile, Debbie. The coon might have a problem with hanging upsidedown? The cat might make them both scatter...good thing it took a cruise.:) Best to you and yours, Mikki

heeehee, those rasally critters. "too" soon line 5. Hey, Deb, I just barely got here today and saw my win. Gosh, what a wonderful surprise. I am so glad you liked my prose. I don't write much free verse, but I love doing prose when the mood strikes me. Thanks so much! andrea

We have an igloo on our front porch, but the stray cats don't seem to like it. In this case though we have a coon and a coon? Isn't "coon" a nickname for an opossum? Whatever. I like this one a lot. Do you know the old Field poem - the owl and the pussy cat went to sea in a beautiful pea geen boat? For some reason your limerick reminds me of it. Love, Dave
