Memory's Magic Spell

You recall his every feature,
his unique laugh
and sexy smile,
magnified by his zest for life.
Struggling with feelings of love and grief
tears mingle with your pain,
and yet, they cannot dilute its impact.
You feared the presence of death
but, you looked upon its face
and said goodbye with a kiss.
Seduced by the past,
you fall prey to memory's magic spell
as selective thoughts console your soul.
And forever feelings surface;
carried by an emotional force
that causes you to stumble for support,
remembering the years, you shared.
Just holding hands, once kindled longings
that fueled passion's flame
and made life worth living.
And yet, now, it's time you shed a final tear;
let it water your withered heart
and allow love to bloom within it,
once again.
