Memory Street
The day is cold, the snow is deep
I sit alone and begin to weep
Why do I feel I have to keep
Your memory from falling fast asleep
I feel as though the road is too steep
And that I no longer can compete
Outside the snowfall turns to sleet
I feel my energy in this starting to deplete
I feel like part of the army is yelling Retreat!
I can no longer keep my feelings discrete
I am trapped in a box filled with deceit
Feeling like I can't contain the bittersweet
Memories of our past – and as they rise I leave receipt
With your friends and your family and upon the seat
As I walk down the lonely, long Memory Street
My heart is alone and I suddenly see wheat
Waving in the wind, a sign that it is complete
The harvest is come – what a treat.
