Memory Lane
I watched a man walk down a lane,
I saw his face I knew his name.
He saw me too he waved and smiled,
I stopped and thought, just for a while.
I thought of times spent as a child,
Through winters bleak and summers mild.
Playing out with all my friends,
Not wanting childhood to ever end.
But end it did I became a man,
I got a job and made a plan.
And as plans go it was the best,
I found true love and made a nest.
And in this nest my love and i
Watched our babies grow and fly
And fly they did to start their life,
My daughter her husband, my son and his wife.
A voice then whispered “Good bye son”
I turned around the man was gone.
I closed my eyes to ease my pain
Had i just seen my dad again?
Some may say it’s not so strange
To see my dad walk down a lane.
But they don’t know he passed away
Some years ago on Christmas day
