Best Saddad Poems
I watched a man walk down a lane,
I saw his face I knew his name.
He saw me too he waved and smiled,
I stopped and thought, just for a while.
I thought of times spent as a child,
Through winters bleak and summers mild.
Playing out with all my friends,
Not wanting childhood to ever end.
But end it did I became a man,
I got a job and made a plan.
And as plans go it was the best,
I found true love and made a nest.
And in this nest my love and i
Watched our babies grow and fly
And fly they did to start their life,
My daughter her husband, my son and his wife.
A voice then whispered “Good bye son”
I turned around the man was gone.
I closed my eyes to ease my pain
Had i just seen my dad again?
Some may say it’s not so strange
To see my dad walk down a lane.
But they don’t know he passed away
Some years ago on Christmas day
Three vehicles
parked in a circle.
A modern wagon train.
Inside the sanctuary of the circle,
instead of children playing as they did
in the days of the covered wagons -
empty bottles, a gas stove,
bags of dog food, wrinkled clothes, wet towels,
folding chairs and food wrappers.
Everything is varnished
with a blue, wet cold.
Mom, Dad and teenage boys spend a lot of time
inside the vehicles with their dogs.
They read, listen to the radio,
play with damp cards, tell stories, and dream of the
time when they can have hot water
tumbling over them in their new home.
They are up at four to start the cars
to warm up a bit.
Then, a few hours of sleep
before the little car pulls out in the dark,
on it's first mission of the day to
take the boys to school, a few miles away.
Four dogs. Two brown ones,
one black and white one, and a new, brown
one rescued when a far-away, family member died during
their stay in the church field.
The black and white dog
runs out to the end of his
rope until it is stopped quick with the choke chain.
They all would like to get away, off their chains...
The boys, wash their long hair from
water warmed a bit in the sun on the hood of dad's car.
Sometimes I catch mom or dad drying their hair
with big, orange towels.
Some mornings, I see them walk over the dirt
hills of the bicycle park
to the
public bathrooms.
They walk slowly, carrying their towels
and the weight of their plight.

Have you had a feeling so strong?
That something that day was going to go wrong.
Well, I’ll never forget that gloomy day,
When I got a call that my dad had passed away.
I remember picking up the phone,
And hearing my brother Garron say, “Dad is gone”.
It felt like my heart had jus dropped,
And at that moment my whole world had stopped.
I didn’t know if I should cry or scream,
I wanted to believe it was just a dream.
This was a man, who was my best friend,
A man who stuck by me through thick and thin.
You see it’s something between a father and son,
But in this case, dad and I had a very special bond.
Loosing my dad is a hurt I can’t explain,
I know my life will never be the same.
I’m trying so hard to be brave,
But all my hopes and feelings were buried in his grave.
My happiness and all my love,
Is gone now with my dad above.

dear dad
I carn't say I love you
I carn't say that I care
untill in heaven one day I will meet you there
you have been gone quite a while
so forgive me if today I do not always smile
I love you dad even though we are apart
but your memory lives on in my heart.
I miss you so much dad rest in peace untill we meet again xxxx
To all my dear friends on poetry soup, today show your dads how much that you care
for we never know how long that they will be there, spoil them like they never been spoilt
before for they are the ones that we will always adore, make the most of every second you
possibly can, God bless you from diane.
DADDY,
As a little girl I would follow you around,
Trying to take bigger steps to keep up because you walked so fast.
No greater dad in my eyes could be found,
The memories of being daddy’s girl will always last.
I love you dad with all my heart,
You have taught me to be strong.
Even when things seemed to be falling apart,
You would tell me to bear with it, it wouldn’t last long.
You were always there for me,
No matter what I might need.
So much love in your eyes I could always see,
Even though the words were few and far between.
I use to get on you for talking so loud.
If I would only have known,
Instead I would have been telling you I was so proud.
If anyone had a care,
You were quick to help fulfill their need.
Loosing you daddy is so hard to bare,
But from all the work and worry you have finally been freed.
I don’t want to let you go,
You were my solid rock of stone.
Oh, how I will miss you so,
With you around dad, I never felt alone.
Daddy now you can finally rest,
And your precious memories will always be with me.
And I promise to always try my best,
To be as strong as you always had to be.
Love Daddy’s Girl,
Kel
