Memory At Sunset
Landscape lost in the past
Landscape of my memory
Memory reflects time ingrained in
Memory of twilight gleam
Gleam that swathed the horizon
Gleam that wrapped the blue hills
Hills rolled down to the plains
Hills carved a valley for stream
Stream cascaded joyfully downhill
Stream garlanded my hamlet
Hamlet of happy people
Hamlet under the sparkling sky
Sky of soaring songbirds
Sky that caressed my kites
Kites I’d flown with exuberance
Kites played hide and seek with cloud
Cloud drifted in the indigo sky
Cloud made shifting shadows
Shadows on verdant meadow
Shadows of nebulous shape
Shape of the opposites
Shape of shade and light
Light of slant sunbeams
Light created convoluted pattern
Pattern rippled in stream water
Pattern formed around my paper boats
Boats I sailed in curling current
Boats carried my dreams
Dreams of distant fantasy land
Dreams of the mariner mind
Mind of infantile motif
Mind now sunk in tide of time
Time flows in memory valley
Time carries the uprooted life
Life walks the last mile
Life tinged by twilight trace
Trace back faint footprint trail
Trace the fading past
Past engulfed by obscurity
Past I want to retrieve
Retrieve from the dust pile of time
Retrieve the priceless pieces
Pieces scattered in memory lane
Pieces of my childhood
Childhood wrapped by oblivion mist
Childhood moments return at sunset
Sunset finds juvenile zeal reborn
Sunset splendor ushers the inner child
Child…
Reborn…
