Memory

Memory
Do you think our memories color and change the people we become?
Do you believe we are simply pawns held in the grasp of cruel fate?
Both joy and tears leave marks upon us and do change the paths we choose.
Selfish decisions we make with pride become turning points it is true.
The roads become more difficult from poor decisions made.
The nature of man bears consequences of our free will.
Bringing shame and bitter pain that we choose to remember.
We cry and shake our fists at God, demand He explain.
Curse Heaven, and with a sarcastic remark reject His love is true.
How strongly does a bitter root take hold upon our soul?

How can an all-powerful, loving God allow such things to happen?
How can a God who is everywhere at once?
not stop our misstep, and keep us safe?
Intervene in what we do?
It is sad to say that trials and pain mark our pathways too.
That does not mean we are forsaken.
Lost from Salvations’ path.
To His Holy Grace bereft, we are not left, abandoned here.
Nor does it mean that the roads we walk will not bear Heavenly fruit.
Some of our roads are arduous and long with twists and turns.
Through the darkest woods, we feel so lost, how can we find the way?

You have not lost your way!
He walks right there beside you.
His Rod and Staff to guide you.
Assuredly His promises He keeps.
To bestow on you a crown of beauty
And clothe you in a robe of praise.
Anoint you with His oil of joy and gladness.
A righteous planting reflecting His pleasure.
He now lights the path you left behind.
So that all might find their way.
