Memories Sweetened By Time

If there ever comes a day when we can't be together,
keep me in your heart, I'll stay there forever. - A.A. Milne

On the outskirts of dad’s hometown, wild blueberries grow
and bishop’s lace adorns highways like fine thread
stitched on an old coat. Here, I wander barefoot through
grief on paths shaded by pine trees. Memories flow from heart
to pen.

these berry-sweetened memories
trod a path through my moonless skies –
summer breaks in morning light

The introductory part of your haibun pierced my normally brusque armor, swiftly and surely. Lovely penned, Rhonda! Thanks, gw

A little armor piercing is a good thing, I think. I'm grateful for the kind words, GW. Any poems I write about my dad are from the heart and bittersweet. Hugs, Rhonda
