Memories Remain

Photographs are taken away

Memories of a lifetime are forgotten

Dust has been scattered over all the fingerprints

Dishes packed away

Telephones are no longer ringing

Clothes still unused

Records are no longer playing

Blood still remains on the carpet

No more sunshine

No laughter

Just the haunting silence

The dead still appear in the darkness of the corners

The clock rings that same old lullaby

Its too late to say goodbye

But not too late to make up with the ghosts

it sounds like you murdered your spouse and buried him in a garden, but that one blood stain keeps appearing on the carpet.and that fabric of fear never leaves, metaphorically speaking
