Memories of the Past

Memories of the Past
Memories of the past
seem to continue to last.
Things that happened can not be put to the side.
Instead they tear me up inside.
Bruises and black eyes and a bunch of lies is what he gave.
Words that he said still haunt me. But a better life I could not see.
Everyday wishing for death just so it would all end. Wondering how many more laws he would
bend.
Fear is what he left me with. I learned abuse is not a myth.
So Memories of the past seem to continue to last.

This is an excellent poem. I like the flow of the words and the message. The rhyming pattern is also excellent. Abuse is never a favorable subject for anyone. Great job and welcome to Poetry Soup! ~Joseph
