Memories of Maryland
I woke up in a pleasant dream
with unfamiliar sights at hand
so far away from my known land.
A wooded forest by a stream
and all around the rolling hills,
my weary mind, with comfort fills.
The air about with nature teems
as birds, their soothing songs, display,
and deer and squirrels and chipmunks play.
Sun’s warming rays through treetops gleam
and light my way with Summer’s smile
if only for a little while.
And I, myself, have verve redeemed
as deep within, my dreams renewed,
and now, like sun, the beams exude.
I woke up in a pleasant dream,
a wooded forest by a stream,
the air about with nature teems,
sun’s gentle rays through treetops gleam,
and I, myself, have verve redeemed.

Constanza
This poem was inspired by our recent trip to Lake Linganore, Maryland
to visit our dear friends Cheryl and Bobby. I was quite taken by the
beautiful countryside of Maryland.
