Notes About The Poem

For Sara Jama's Memories Lost Within A Frozen Mist Poetry Contest

Memories Lost Within a Frozen Mist

In times when I was met with frigidness, and cruelty scraped my fragile skin, I may have whimpered like a pup or merely shaken it off. Those memories remain somewhere in my brain but not in a place of joy or of grace. I prefer to lock up old injuries, and some I may have concealed so very well they linger as in a fog. Unlike the bliss of a first kiss, my deepest cuts and wounds have become memories lost within a frozen mist.

Andrea, interesting thought on memories we don't think of fondly. Amazing how even though they're buried deeply, they sometimes surface. Lucky we are to have a chance to review our relationship with them when that happens. Quite amazing really!! Smiles and thanks for writing this one.

Congratulations, poetess, for your placement in this poetry contest with a wonderful write. I particularly appreciated the following: "I prefer to lock up old injuries, and some I may have concealed so very well they linger as in a fog."

Congratulations, Sweetie, for placing so well. I am always amazed at what you can pull out of your pocket for any contest prompt. Love the Etheree form for your poem which I feel sure has actual Andrea truths in many lines. Once again, I was contest dismissed. Love you ... CayCay

Very haunting - I liked the analogy of the "pup shaking it off" a very appropriate phrase.... deep and honest

Powerful poem Andrea. I know we all lock up our pain and hurt. Thanks for putting it into words for all of us.

A thoughtful piece of poetry ingenuously crafted for this contest. Wish you best of luck. On another note, I wished to send you a soup mail, but I am not able to do so. In the poetry contest "A 5-Liner on your Life Poetry Contest" sponsored by you, grateful if you could clarify whether one of the titles "Stoy of your Life" should be "Story of your Life". Thanks and regards."

Past cruelty to a person specially during his childhood is not forgotten in his latter life causing lasting marks on the psyche.A poem to preserve.
