Memories

Time flies and people change too, What feels grey, was also once blue, So we try to move on, long after it's gone, But memories linger, like an old song. There was a time, I used to call you mine, Now you're just on my mind, Your love was like a rose, And it's memories like a thorn, so close. Yes, time flies, indeed, Sometimes it leaves your heart to bleed, So we learn to live with the pain, And cherish living those moments again.

This poem makes me think of my father. The second and fourth lines in your first stanza made me pause, as did the last two lines in your second stanza. They are true for me. Your poem described to me how I think and what I think about my dad before and after he passed. I am glad to have found a poem that was so relatable and affirming.
