Within our minds resides the gift of thought
which actively commands us every day;
but also is a reservoir, well-wrought-
filled up with memories we stow away.
And like a theater, we can visit them
by choice, or often they come forth by chance;
awake, or in our sleep state during rem-
our memories unwind as sudden trance.
Our retrospects bear episodes of life
from recent pasts and those of long ago;
some stored in pain- but others, fully rife
to reminisce as welcomed afterglow.
So blessed are memories that can unfold
to waken in our thoughts- again to hold.
