Memories

-------i never dreamed of being a poet - a life event made me one

                                       a rose was a rose
                              before aching heart saw your
                                      beauty & smile in it

in the garden - where roses once bloomed
a departed love - its beauty consumed
now sorrow lingers - like thorns that remain
painful reminders of love's sweet refrain

                                               6/1/2023
a monoku haiku and 4 lines of rhyme poem contest

The departure of love has the power to transform roses into thorns, my dear Jay. Your exquisite use of language and imagery adds a layer of beauty to your poetry, making it a strong contender for the contest. Best of luck to you.

This is really beautiful. I do know that Tania likes nature and no emotions shown, which is kind of difficult to do in haiku sometimes. Some haiku writers DO use human emotion as you do. I love this.

Thanks Andrea. I followed your advice, took it out of contest. I have a new one titled :"Tulips".
