Memorial Day
By Franklin Price
5/29/2016
Memorial Day, lest we forget,
Remembers those who paid the debt,
Most returned,some lost the bet,
Yet in our minds they're with us yet
And if they're not, then shame on you;
They gave their all and then some too,
To remember them's the least to do,
Unlike the most, join with the few.
It's not about a day off work.
If you think that, you're just a jerk.
This day's not just another perk.
The ghosts therein the shadows lurk.
Many not here to barbeque,
Join friends and family, old and new,
They gave their lives for me and you,
So you can enjoy the things you do.
Remember on this day the score.
Take a moment with your knees to floor.
Thank those who gave their all and more.
Reflect on what this day is for.
