Memoirs

To write my memoirs I needed enough courage to allow my heart to bleed its emotions." ~ by poet Blank parchment, now yellowed with age. A wrested pen held in my trembling hand, Memories written upon every page, Words flowed in ink like grains of sand mournful sadness but never of rage Scrawled thoughts written, line after line Recollections from my heart, buried deep. Were all of those thoughts really mine? Yes, for from my heart thoughts did seep, each penned with love or regret, by design Reflections from my past, day and night no longer remained imprisoned or entombed Darkness and shadows escaped to the light. Like the budding of flowers, they bloomed when at last our love had taken flight Golden days together ended too soon Our flowered petals withered and died Love became lyrics of a mournful tune My tears flowed like the sea at high tide washed upon the beach, they were strewn Gloom settled within crevices of my soul Veiled to me were the moon and stars Nothing and no one were able to console me, except time spent writing memoirs I was lost in solitude when love took its toll

It's dulled quite a bit now, Jo, but I still feel it after many years when I write about it.

A compelling but painful write on lost love, Lin, taking the reader into the dark, hidden caverns of grief, whilst yet reflecting, musing, hoping and yet, release lies in nonchalant acceptance, cliched as it may sound, living vibrantly in the moment. Warmest congratulations on your well deserved win, enjoyed this write, truly at another level.

Seeker, your comments are always supportive, but this one saw the bleeding in my heart. Thank you, and your words never sound like a cliche to me.
