I feel melancholy today, for Autumn has turned damp and cool. And the day wears a veil of grey as the children head back to school, trekking through mud and piles of crud. It is a wet, depressing day; a scarecrow stands out like a fool. And I fear Winter's on its way as dead leaves fill my empty pool; falling from trees, stripped with each breeze.

The flip side of autumn joy is the pensive spirit it brings to the surface. Summer has left and we know winter approaches. Autumn is definitely transition - "tween" season. So nicely expressed Emile. Sending you a :)" to brighten your day, blessings for your melancholy heart and congratulations.

Wonderful images of a "melancholy" sort of day. Nicely-written, Emile. I really enjoyed it, but I've been under the influence of pain pills all day. Had a tooth pulled and it is hurting where no tooth is. Can you beat that? Good poem for the contest. Best wishes.
