Melancholy

Oh sweet melancholy
touch me gently with
your permanent effect
that I may ever be
stained by your essence.

Envelope me in your
comforting absolution
your sweet sustenance
that I may never long
for pray for joy again.

Secretly steal me away
hush me away to the
furthest reaches of your
somber touch that sing
of you and only of you.

Hide me deep within
the folds of your robes
that I may wistfully
feel and hear the dying
of my ways and days.

I like this poem. It's true that the sense of melancholy keeps us company.

Hi Mike, thank you very much for your comments. Sometimes that blanket keeps us comforted and warm through troubled times. Best not to stay too long though!
