Mecca
There is this yearning
deep inside my soul
that is satisfied only when
I am alone atop a mountain,
sitting quietly by a stream
or laying in a cozy meadow
splashed with sunshine
My heart is soothed there
as if I were truly home
truly at peace
truly one with Mother Earth
this Mecca is my driving force
as I follow the hummingbirds song
deeper into the wilderness
where the hum of humanity
can no longer be heard
or felt through the ground underfoot
My soul has come home
and is flooded with the warmth
that heals even the deepest wounds
