Meadow In Early Spring
Strolling through the meadow in early spring
Butterflies and honeybees are arriving,
Fresh growth appearing on all the perennials
Clearly the natural undergrowth is thriving,
Promising shelter for the smallest creatures
Perfect wildlife sanctuary in my neighborhood,
I spot some adventuresome critters about
Think about Mother Nature, and how she is good.
Some new fencing, I thought might be trouble
Isn’t interfering with the movement of wildlife,
The pathway I choose has not been blocked
There is much evidence of healthy loosestrife,
To my sweet meadow new birds have flocked
Such a glorious place cannot be overstocked.
