' Me ' Time

It's back to work tomorrow ,
my days off have just flown.
I've done nothing of significance.
My weekend, I have blown.

I baked some treats yesterday,
enough to last awhile.
Got my hair newly shorn.
in the shortest possible style.

Started the day on the deck
with a very strong cup of brew
and opened a book to just escape,
even if just for an hour or two.

I used to feel so guilty
for doing nothing on my days off.
But now I know that relaxing was
an accomplishment not to scoff.

The older I get the more I realize
this "me" time is what I need.
whether its making muffins,
writing a poem or grabbing a book to read.

Oh I totally agree how important 'me' time is but it can be challenging not to feel guilty about doing something simply for you:-) hugs Jan xx

I wish I could convince myself of that, it seems I work harder on my days off than I do when I am at work. Really nicely expressed Francine.
