Maya Illusion

Wondering, pondering,
conjuring up memories
from where?
Moments, past moments,
lost as soon as they
pass.

Great moments, over.
Did they even occur?
A silly species,
yes?
that tries to save
the past.

All that effort
and energy, and
the purity of the moment,
lost.
One day later,
the cheers, the jeers are
open to the public and
lost,
in a thousand interpretations
in the daily news.

And you wonder
and you ponder
if it even happened,
and whose views are true,
and just what it was you really
saw.
