Notes About The Poem

May December Romance

Fireworks went off when we first met,
It was a May December romance I don’t regret.
He was fifteen years older with sexy blue eyes.
I was still in college, naive, and mesmerized.

Our touch was like electricity, and we didn’t waste any time.
He swept me off my feet, and wedding bells soon chimed!
When I think of the sparks that flew on our first date,
I know those kind of fireworks you cannot overrate.

We are divorced now, but our time then was great,
When I married my first love and pledged soulmate.
We may have new lives, but the memory is sweet.
Our stars collided, and Fate commanded we meet.

Nice to hear a love story without regret. And someone capable of, not losing love, but loving with a larger heart. Lovely read!

Well done, Brenda! I love that you emphasized the gift of him despite the divorce, I believe that can be very true. Through rhyme a story is told that many should relate to and hopefully they are as upbeat about living it. Very good ... CayCay

Thank you CayCay. When we fell in love it was a magical time I will always remember. The memory of our happy years together cannot be diminished by the divorce.
