May
Emerald green sepals unfurled reveal
pearl white lily petals
under the blossoming May-tree.

Note:
The name for the month May comes from the Greek goddess Maia (a Roman earth goddess of fertility). May is a girl’s name, which can also be used as a pet name for Mary or Margaret. The emerald is the month of May’s birthstone, which symbolizes love and success, and the representative flower for the month is the woodland flowering Lily of the Valley. Although not considered true lilies, Calla Lilies are cultivated for their colourful flowers and beautiful leaves. White Calla Lilies bring an aura of innocence and are regarded as good luck charms for weddings. The representative tree for the month is the Hawthorne tree, aka “May-tree”, because its flowers blossom in May.
