Mated Swan Couple

The cob met his pen, she a true friend Made their nest, cygnets hatched Cygnets met their soul mate at last They're alone, then death snatched Elegant swan growing older Her cob so strong now gone What's in God's plan for each new day She'll have to wait for dawn

Aging and death bring a sort of uncertainty, be it in the life of man or animal or bird. Beautifully rendered thoughts, dear Sara.

Aww, tough time for the female swan when her life's love is gone. Have you ever read that children's book, The Trumpet of the Swan? I've read it twice as an adult, and if you haven't read it, I recommend it!

David, I have read that book to one of my grandsons or maybe both of them. It was an enjoyable read, but I have forgotten what it was about though. I need to see if I can find a copy and reread it. Thank you for the nice review and recommendation. Sara K.

This is a beautifully written poem with vivid imagery. Swans do, in fact, form lifelong bonds with their partners and grieve the loss of either one, just like people.

Thank you, Lasaad, I can say I truly understand their plight at the death of their mate. I wonder if they will over a period of time pick a new mate to go on with their life for their survival and the continued carrying on of the species. Your visit is uplifting. Sara K.

Swans do mate for life, sad when one of the pair passes away - just the same as it is for humans. hugs jan xx

Swans don't come here where I live, Jan, but I have read or heard that they mate for life as do a bird we call a Bobwhite. I saw one once whose mate had died and the one left alive was so distressed. I felt so sorry for the survivor. At that time I was not familiar enough if the male died or the female. Thank you for stopping by with such a nice review. Sara K.
