Masterpiece Lost Once Again

My poem idea was tremendous, the best maybe.
It would have gone to the anvils of poetry I have no doubt

If I could have retained even a sliver of a glimpse of it.
It was a Mozart masterpiece, yet, all of the notes were gone.
Not a chord retained.

It was one of those perfect poems you hear
first thing in the morning before you are awake
So you jump out of bed.

Determined to remember it as you run.
By the time you pick up your toothbrush though
this prodigious missive has disappeared completely

This is not a daily thing for me.
However, it does happen more
frequently now.
