Mary Disappears Pt 1

As you probably know by now, I love stories about magic mirrors. Here's another one: When my Great Aunt Mary looked in her new mirror that night, she could see future events that caused her great fright. So many scary things made her cringe with fear in her face. Even though scary wasn't always the case. She had gotten this mirror for her birthday today. But little did she know what a price she would pay. She could see things that you and I think of as being everyday things. Only the blackest of nights, would the mirror bring. On one night she saw a man named Armstrong whom she heard voices say was walking on the moon. She heard in the distance from the mirror, in her mind. "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." The mirror would only show her secrets in the darkness of the night. Never would it reveal itself, when there was a hint of any light. Aunt Mary would sneek into the bedroom with much apprehension. And always with a candle, to avert the mirror's attention. The mirror could always sense her presence and was waiting patiently. To show her all the things that she was so afraid to see. The flying machines she saw were huge and people flying coast to coast. Not knowing of such things, she thought they were some kind of ghost. She tried telling people about the things she saw one day. But after she told them, most of them would always say, "That Mary, you know, she's such a good girl, but her minds not quite right." Then Mary stopped telling them all the things she saw that gave her a fright. continued in Pt 2

You are indeed an inspired man ... the story is powerful and set in a modern academic landscape, so that it will be sustained in the poetic mythography of the English language

Oh my, Marty! Couldn't help but think of the mirror gazers in ancient Roman times. They professed to see the future and communicate with departed loved ones when there was just a small candlelight in a dark room where they stared into mirror reflections in underground streams. Dr. Raymond Moody studied this phenomena and created his own psychomanteum to achieve the same impact. I have read this best-selling author's works -- you're really on to something here and I must check out part two.

You have a great imagination and an ability to tell a story that will keep an individual interested in the read. Have you considered developing one of your poem into a novel? A. W. Nutter www.freewebs.com/abcedit
