Marshmallow Dreams
If dreams were marshmallows
they would be bottled in mellowed yellows
all fluff and sweet sugared treats,
but dreams are but fantasies in repeat
often made of steel star studded cleats,
and where the journey taken
fades in and out with realities forsaken
the dream erodes and erases upon awakening.
Five more minutes to pick it up only in vain
too often the dream slips away again
and time is no longer our best friend
as we rise groggy and unkempt
to dream a little longer to ou heart's content
but alas, the sweetness has now soured
welcome back, to the morning hours.
