Married In Scotland

High above near Edinburgh castle
the wind blew my dress
and we stood hand in hand
waiting for the photographer
just married at the registry
by absolute strangers
even stranger strangers for witnesses
gleeful we wept in her office
married
how lovely
a laura ashley dress purchased in london
for pennies
and you in your stunning grey suit
very serious
our secret
romantic
runaway wedding
just you and I
married
the grey walls of the castle
the town
now held our story
there with all the others
ages old
there we held hands
and smiled for the picture
our secret still safe
still ours still not sharing
and so our married life
has been
this intimate
no one else allowed in
allowed close
allowed to see
the secret lovely center of us
our marriage.

Beautiful poem, I can relate to this, as had my honeymoon in Edinburgh and other parts of Scotland. A very romantic place.
