Marriage Fundamentals, Marriage Nettles
If we own love, we marry to share
For each other to care
For the long haul genuine love to declare
Despite God creating us with different procreative functions
Where God intended in marriage to impose no sanctions
At the inception of marriage and later at mature junctions
Where as husbands we play our more external roles
While our wives fly to attain their more internal goals
To ensure harmony pervades our matrimonial bowls
Regardless of how fast or slowly to intimacy we respond
While we strive over the years to each other to correspond
To function seamlessly in our matrimonial pond, to cement our bond
Despite challenges that lurk in the background
As we learn to iron out pesky problems on the ground
Endeavouring to the best of our abilities to get around
Obstacles as to each other we render support and honour
At breakfast, at lunch and at dinner where we grow cleaner
Love, understanding without becoming meaner
When tempers out of control
Set alight petrol on patrol
If we scribble nonsense on our matrimonial scroll
Which we can rejig by getting right the fundamentals
Comprising sharing, supporting and honouring petals
To reap serenity unless we invest in misconceptions to reap nettles.
