Marlboro Man
I desperately need a replacement heart
mine bit the dust and won’t start
its filters were clogged from all that smoke
Cigarettes butts are killers, that’s no joke
Wonder if that Marlboro man still lives
what he would say today that gives
might he say I’m not an idol just someone rude
so drop your butts before “here lies a Marlboro dude”
I rode the Bronco truck to be a buck a roo!
it was a way to show what macho men knew
big engines, styling and double horn blast
that now is all in the past
I smoke in the cab whenever I was out cruisin’
but today I forbid the weed as now I ‘m losin’
the engine was my fav but now we’ve come apart
no thunderous start up ,no kicks to my heart
so all of you who thinks this is so cool
a dead engine lies within me, was such a fool
I was taken by the motto to be this sort of man
but now you know just where I stand
learn from me about temptation and addiction
it’s not just a portrayal or some display of fiction
I was in the limelight on tv and in the corral
I’ll end up in the bone yard without my Bronco pal.
so if you put on that cowboy hat and drive a big rig
next you may find yourself taking a big swig
one desire leads to another and there’s no control
sooner or later someone will put you in the hole.
