Mark and Luke On Love

In God’s Word, there rests remarkable truth -
“Love God with all your heart, soul, strength and mind.”
Understanding this clear verse as a youth
purpose in life, if you want, you can find.
Second, as you love yourself, LOVE mankind.”

"Into my Heart" as a child I would pray,
Naïve, innocent, a mischievous elf,
I’d sing, "come in today, come in to stay."
By youth, I’d learned to take care of myself;
pride’s independence rested on MY shelf.

God knows the secrets of our inner heart;
in our good words and deeds, malice can spin.
To unite thoughts, talk and tactics is smart.
But free-style thinkers like we all have been,
we worship ourselves and He calls THAT sin.

When I listen, I can hear God's still voice
guiding me with words I’ve heard and reheard
“Trust me; I know what is best; make your choice."
“Love your enemies,” I once found absurd
but Christ took me back to what HE'D endured.*

Depending on God, serving His just cause.
using Love’s verses as my drum and fife
the music I create seeks His applause.
Occasions to serve Him, suddenly rife,
God is at work giving PURPOSE to life.

God’s holy counsel about what is right.
leads mind, mouth and might to fight the SAME fight.

A wonderful Chanso poem Reason, God’s words are heard in every verse. Those last two lines sum the poem up nicely. Best wishes, Belle

Thank you so much, Belle, the form is new to me but not difficult to follow. I appreciate your encouraging remarks.
